Governor Summit Governor Tim Pawlenty's hosted Minnesota's first Afterschool Learning Opportunities Summit in May 2008. The summit was co-sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Education, The McKnight Foundation, The Greater Twin Cities United Way, The University of Minnesota, the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, and Youth Community Connections. More than 175 leaders in business, education, local government, Native American communities, law enforcement, youth and community-based youth programs gathered to call attention to the critical need to ensure that high-quality afterschool opportunities are available for all Minnesota children and youth.
